With America’s manned space program on hiatus, it was time to remember one its greatest technological successes: Project Gemini!

Nearly 45 years after the last flight, the Glenn Martin Maryland Aviation Museum, Inc. set aside September 24 to remember the men and women whose ingenuity, expertise and drive put America at the forefront of flight. Gemini astronauts Richard Gordon
(right, acknowledging a Museum award) was a special participant in the events. Astronaut Buzz Aldrin made a special appearance via video.

The day began with a symposium on the importance of Project Gemini to Maryland and the world and ended with a dinner and silent auction that is a fundraiser for the Museum so that it can continue its mission to preserve Maryland's aeronautical history and to educate and inspire the next generation. The dinner and silent auction were held at the Sparrows Point Country Club.

The Museum has been working for over 20 years to fulfill its mission and is recognized by both the IRS and state of Maryland as a charitable organization.
